ABOUT THE BOOK:
Each sunrise seems to bring fresh reasons for fear.
They're talking layoffs at work, slowdowns in the economy, flare-ups in the Middle East, turnovers at headquarters, downturns in the housing market, upswings in global warming. The plague of our day, terrorism, begins with the word terror. Fear, it seems, has taken up a hundred-year lease on the building next door and set up shop. Oversized and rude, fear herds us into a prison of unlocked doors. Wouldn't it be great to walk out?
Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? If you could hover a fear magnet over your heart and extract every last shaving of dread, insecurity, or doubt, what would remain? Envision a day, just one day, where you could trust more and fear less.
Can you imagine your life without fear?
READER OPINION:
A friend wanted to read this book before me so I asked if he would be happy to give me his opinion. :) He said that what is written below was just the tip of the iceberg and he could have easily written 500 or 1000 words, given how good the book was!
I’ve been long overdue to read a full length Lucado book, after having picked through random chapters in the bookstore of other work that he has written. “Fearless” was just as impressive as I expected it to be. Max offers more proof of why he’s been able to sell so much of his writing in recent years. He covers deep subjects without getting too complicated or academic. His short chapters and poetic style also keep the material accessible and easy-to-read - even for those with short attention spans. :)
I would question Lucado’s use of multiple versions of the Bible to communicate his points. However, I did feel that most of his points were valid and biblical. Though he did not attempt to cover every existing fear (which would have been impossible), he did a great job talking about many of the big ones that are common among men & women.
